Spring Inspired Eye Tutorial

In the spirit of Springtime, I thought it would only be appropriate to create a spring look. I wanted a look that was vibrant in color but also very natural looking and wearable. If you want to see how I accomplished the look below, read on.

Start with a white primer on your eye and on your lower lash line, I used NYX jumbo pencil in milk. A primer is needed as it will ensure your eye shadow last  will and it will intensify the eye color.

Apply a yellow eyeshadow on your inner lid, on the middle of the lid apply a neon green eyeshadow and on the outer corner of the lid apply a purple eyeshadow. I know it looks crazy now but its' going to come together.

With a blending brush you want to blend all 3 of the colors together. Blend very lightly and use short swift strokes.

Blend the purple from the outer lid into your crease. If you need to pick up some more purple do so but apply it very lightly.

Using a hot pink/red eyeshadow you will apply that color to your upper crease and blend it into the purple. Remember to blend, blend, blend. We don't want any harsh lines, we want a soft gradation of colors.

Use an eyeshadow that is close to your skin tone and apply that to your brow bone.

Using an eye liner brush, apply the purple eyeshadow on the outer half of your bottom lash line and the green eyeshadow on the inner half of your bottom lash line.

Apply for favorite eyeliner and mascara and Waa laa!! you have a beautiful Springtime look that will be perfect for any picnic or outing with the girls.

Repurpose your old denim jacket into a rocker chic vest

I'm sure we all have that denim jacket in our closet that we no longer wear. Well before you decide to get rid of it try making it into a rocker chic denim vest. If you don't have a denim jacket, go to your local thrift store. The jacket below was purchased at my local Goodwill for $4.99. It's actually too big but I really wanted to try the look. Even though its big, I'm still going to wear it because the final product turned out to be absolutely gorg!!!

Let's begin......

Cut the sleeves of the jacket along the seam, get as close as possible and try to be as neat as possible.

Rubber band different sections of the vest. I used approx. 30 rubber bands. You should be left with one big ball.

You want to put your vest in a concoction of bleach and water. For every 1 cup of bleach add 3 cups of water. Now I thought this process was going to be fast but for me it wasn't. It took approx. 30 minutes of turning the vest over to get the look below.

Once you achieved the stain you like, wash the vest in the washer by itself and then put in the dryer. To spunk the vest out, add some studded jewels. Find some studs that you stick through the denim and fold the backs down. You can apply them wherever you wish, I decided to apply them along the shoulders of the vest. These studs can be found at your local craft stores. The studs below were found at Hobby Lobby for $1.67 with 30% off.....winning.

Once the studs are done, your vest is ready to be worn over a maxi dress or with a t-shirt and leggings. This vest has definitely become the statement piece of the outfit. For a more distressed look you can fray the collar and the breast pockets with a razor.

......Even celebrities love wearing denim vests.

Hope you enjoyed!!!!

If you tried this DIY, please send me pics as I would love to see.

Dean of Fashion PhotoShoot

This past weekend I had the pleasure of working at a photoshoot for a local boutique, Dean of Fashion. The night was filled with gorgeous models, an amazing photographer (Audria Nubia Arnold), and of course banging makeup applied by yours truly. Here are some behind the scene photos. More pics coming soon...

FEBRUARY FAVES

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes

If you’re anything like me, then you absolutely HATE taking your makeup off at night. Well, I’ve found a product that makes the process a little less painful. The Neutrogena makeup remover wipes are great!! Because they are wipes they are convenient and work like a charm. I have a pack by the bed and at my vanity. They’re also very gentle and not harsh on your skin. What I love about these wipes is that you don’t have to scrub your face off to remove the makeup. It literally takes me 1 wipe to remove my makeup. When you use the towlette it will leave your face wet for amount a minute but once it dries it leaves your face feeling moisturized and not dried out.

Goddess Curl Hair Gel

Now by no means am I a product junkie when it comes to my hair but it was time for something new. I wanted a product that was going to define my curls and provide moisture to my hair. I was at Target and decided to try Goddess Curl Hair Gel. To be honest, I don’t know why I even tried this product. It could’ve been that this was the only product that had a dispensable pump, I know not the best reason but boy am I glad I bought it. When I put this product in my hair, it immediately defines my curls. The product is a gel however it’s not sticky, leaving that tacky feeling on your hands. Another reason I love this product so much is for it to be a gel it doesn’t leave your hair crunchy and flaky, it actually provides your curls with a lot of movement and moisture. The gel works great on wet or dry hair. Goddess Curl Gel can be found at Target for $7.99. I believe they have more products in their line that I’m eager to try out. Guess I’m slowly becoming a product junkie huh? J

DKNY Rose Gold Watch

Absolutely random, I know. But I love this watch. I bought this watch in December but didn’t start wearing it until recently. I wear this watch all the time; I wear it weather I’m wearing gold or white gold. It goes with everything!! I also love stacking my bracelets with it to add more dimension and texture to my wrist. In my opinion, every woman needs a rose gold watch.
Fever by MAC
This blush is a beautiful deep wine color, with a matte finish. This is a perfect color for any complexion.  The blush is VERY pigmented so you have to remember that a little goes a long way. If applied too heavily it can leave you looking like a clown. When I wear it in the day I apply it very lightly. For an evening look I apply a little more.

New York Kiss lipstick- Magenta

This lipstick was $1.99 at my local beauty supply store.  The name is Magenta, providing the perfect magenta color. The lipstick is creamy and long lasting.  I love the shine that it provides, not requiring any lip gloss. I would compare this lipstick to some upper end lipsticks, in the sense that you don’t have to apply multiple coats to achieve the color nor does it smear onto your face. I purchased more of their colors, some were hits and some were misses but this one was definitely a hit.
